Hunting is pretty huge here in Riverton Wyoming-
practically a religion to some. Many people go for weeks at a time and camp out to hunt for the perfect animal. Eve came home from school last week saying "I want daddy to shot a deer because they are SO YUMMMY! " I don't think she had ever had deer before she just heard her teacher, who yes is a woman, talk about her hunting trip and it made Eve excited. So Lance was excited to join in the fun this year after many years of being away. He couldn't do it last year since he wasn't an official resident yet. Unlike many of the other hunters around here Lance only had one day this fall- last Saturday. So him and his friend ( who Amanda FWI- reminds me a little of Larry) went hunting. They left at 5:00am and I expected as with most of their outings they would be out until midnight and probably come home empty handed- one day really isn't a lot for a hunter. Well, to my surprise, they were home by 2:30 in the afternoon both with a good size buck! Lance says he spotted his early, shot it, didn't miss not bad after several years of not hunting, and killed it, as they were cleaning it he looked up and saw another one so he shot it too. He didn't kill it the first time Gabe, his friend, had to get it one more time. Pretty straight forward- then they came home. We had some for Sunday dinner and it was pretty delicious. I'm excited to have a freezer full of meat this year thanks to my big strong hunting man.

One of the advantages Lance and Gabe have is we have 4 wheelers. They technically aren't ours they are my father in laws but he is pretty good at, whats mine is yours. We actually wrecked a trailor with two of his 4 wheelers on it early this year and he still lets us use it. So Lance and Gabe didn't have to do any hefting of the deer to their pick up. They just loaded onto the 4 wheeler and were off. Pretty lucky if you ask me. My father in law also owns two mini 4 wheelers. I think he got them free when he bought something for his business. So even though I keep stressing to Eli it is NOT his own personal 4 wheeler basically the picture above is of Eli riding his 4 wheeler. His uncle Dave uses the red one- no one else can drive them so basically it is there's. And yes I have a small heart attach every time he rides it. Luckily Eli is a little bit of a Chicken on it. He actually dumped it over once going too fast and has some respect for it. I shake my head everytime I let him drive the thing.

WOW! I just can't stomach the whole hunting thing and the meat that comes with it, but Derek has all sorts of hunting aspirations...I guess some lucky person will be the recipient of moose meat from us year after year, or maybe I'll let Derek keep a bunch and make it for him and him alone. I'm a wimp what can I say! I'll have to show Derek Lance's big catch...way to go!
ps Love the mini four-wheeler, owen would love that, I'll bet our boys would get along great!
Wow! I love your new blog and that you are keeping it up! That is cool he got one so fast!
